Greetings from our President - March 2024

Dear Beloved Sisters in Christ!
Because it is impossible for me to attend each Cluster’s Spring Meeting, I have asked that your Synodical
Board Representative bring my greetings to you and to be your point of contact—your connection with the
WELCA Board.
I’m always mindful of the planning and organization needed to make your Cluster Spring Meeting happen
each year. Please accept my heartfelt thanks to everyone one who made it happen! I also want to thank
everyone who is here for attending your Spring Meeting. If this is your first time—welcome! It is all our
voices, new and old, that keeps our organization strong, vibrate, and meaningful.
As you conduct your Business Meeting today, please join me in thanking both your outgoing leaders and
your newly elected keaders for sharing their gifts and time with us. Please continue to lift your leaders up in
prayer. I would also ask that you prayerfully consider if you or someone you know is being called to share your
gifts and talents by serving as a leader in your Cluster or on the Synod WELCA Board. If you have any questions
about serving on the Board, please talk to your Board Representative or contact me. At this year’s Convention,
we will be electing a new Vice-President, a Secretary, and Board Members. Please consider sharing your gifts
with your sisters across this Synod by submitting your nomination form.
While I’ve given your Board Representative some information that she could share with you today, I’ve
also asked her to be available for any questions you might have about specific things that are of interest to
you. I would also encourage you to share with her any suggestions you might have on how the Board can
better serve you. If you have any questions today or in the future, please feel free to ask her or to contact me.
WELCA has been asked to coordinate one of the Discipleship Opportunities at this year’s Synod Assembly
by providing the items to assemble personal care kits for Lutheran World Relief. We have covered all the items
except the bath towels. We are asking each congregation to send up to ten towels. Remember these need to
be lightweight, dark colors.
As you know, during the Pandemic, our Circles, Units, and Clusters didn’t have in-person meetings. When
we were unable to meet in person, we likely didn’t collect an offering so no money was sent to SES WELCA. As
a result, we are still trying to recover and get our organization on a good financial foundation. Your Board has
very graciously agreed to not ask for travel reimbursements and to pay their registration and lodging expenses
to this year’s Convention so we can also help improve our finances. We are very grateful and thankful for those
of you who have made donations for us to be able to the last two conventions, but we felt we, too, needed to
do something positive to help turn things around.
We have also decided that starting next year, 2025, the registration fee for Spring Cluster Meetings will be
$5.00 per person (an increase from $4.00). We appreciate your understanding for the need to increase the fee
for the first time in many years.
I hope to see each of you at this year’s Convention, “Created to Shine Like Stars”, September 20-22, at the
Embassy Suites in Huntsville, Alabama. The ladies of Cluster 7 are hard at work to make this Convention one to
remember! As more information becomes available, we will let you know in the Weaver or via email and on
our website, www.seswelca.weebly.com. Start planning now to attend and to share your “starlight” with your
sisters in Christ.
It is truly a blessing to be able to serve as your President. You are an amazing group of ladies and being
with you always inspires me and gives me hope for the future.
May God continue to bless you in your ministries!
