CLUSTERS
Clusters are geographic areas composed of the congregational units on the roll of the synodical women’s organization. They work interdependently with the synodical organization and the congregational units to fulfill
the purpose of Women of the ELCA through activities that:
- Provide experiences for learning and leadership development
- Build community
- Provide opportunities for joint ministry and action
- Provide opportunities for stewardship, education, and offerings
- Establish networks for communication
The leadership of a cluster consists of a Coordinator, a Recorder and a Member-at-Large elected at Spring Cluster Meetings. One of the three leadership positions is elected each year to serve a three-year term. Each leader can
be re-elected once, and each must be from a different congregation. For example, in 2018 clusters we elected new recorders in each cluster. Any unexpected vacancies are filled to complete a term.
Each cluster has a designated board member to serve as a liaison between the cluster and the synodical board. There is also a Cluster Liaison appointed to work with the cluster leaders on behalf of the board.
